Softaculous is the auto-installer bundled with cPanel that lets you deploy WordPress without touching a database or uploading files manually. This is the fastest way to get online on shared hosting.
Open Softaculous
- Log in to cPanel using the details in your welcome email.
- Scroll to the Software section and click Softaculous Apps Installer.
- Find WordPress under the Blogs category and click Install Now.
Configure the Installation
Fill in the install form carefully:
- Choose Protocol: select
https://(orhttps://www.) so the site loads over SSL. - Choose Domain: pick the domain you want WordPress installed on.
- In Directory: leave this blank to install at the domain root. Only enter a folder name if you want it under a subdirectory.
- Site Name and Description: set these now; you can change them later.
- Admin Username and Password: avoid
adminas the username and use a strong password. - Admin Email: use an address you can access for password resets.
Finish and Log In
- Click Install and wait for the progress bar to complete.
- Softaculous displays two links: your site URL and the admin URL (
/wp-admin). - Log in at the admin URL with the username and password you set.
If the protocol was set to HTTPS but you have not yet enabled SSL, issue a free certificate through AutoSSL in cPanel before going live.
