How to Point Your Domain to NairoHost Nameservers

Step-by-step instructions to update your domain nameservers to NairoHost so your website and email resolve correctly.

· Updated · 3,874 views

Pointing your domain to NairoHost nameservers tells the internet that NairoHost manages your DNS. This is required before your website and email will load from our servers.

The Nameservers to Use

ns1.nairohost.site
ns2.nairohost.site

Enter both. A single nameserver is not enough for reliable resolution.

Steps to Update

  1. Log in to the account where your domain is registered. If it is with NairoHost, sign in at my.nairohost.site.
  2. Find the domain and open its management or DNS settings.
  3. Look for the nameserver or DNS section, often labelled "Custom Nameservers".
  4. Remove any existing entries and add ns1.nairohost.site and ns2.nairohost.site.
  5. Save the changes.

What to Expect

Nameserver changes are not instant. They propagate across the internet over a period that can range from a few minutes to 48 hours, though most users see the change within a few hours.

| Stage | Typical time | |-------|--------------| | Registry update | Minutes | | Global propagation | 1 to 48 hours |

During propagation, some visitors may still reach the old server while others reach the new one. Avoid making further changes until propagation completes.

If your domain is registered elsewhere, the same steps apply, but you make them in that registrar's control panel. For .co.ke domains, your registrar updates KENIC on your behalf. If you are unsure where to set this, contact support via WhatsApp at +254 796 358081.
