How to Edit DNS Records in cPanel Zone Editor

Step-by-step guide to finding and editing your domain's DNS records using the Zone Editor inside cPanel.

The cPanel Zone Editor is where you add, change, and remove DNS records for any domain hosted on your account. It is the central tool for pointing subdomains, configuring email, and adding verification records.

Opening the Zone Editor

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Scroll to the Domains section.
  3. Click Zone Editor.
  4. Find the domain you want to manage and click Manage.

Adding or Editing a Record

  1. Click the + Add Record dropdown and choose the record type (A, CNAME, MX, or TXT).
  2. Enter the Name (the hostname, such as www or the full subdomain).
  3. Set the TTL if you want a custom value, or leave the default.
  4. Enter the Record value, such as an IP address or target hostname.
  5. Click Add Record to save.

To change an existing entry, click Edit next to it, update the value, and save. To remove one, click Delete and confirm.

Tips for Reliable Changes

  • Double-check the Name field. Entering a bare name versus a fully qualified name can produce different results.
  • Avoid duplicate records that conflict, such as two A records on the same name pointing to different IPs.
  • After saving, allow time for propagation before testing.

If you cannot see the Zone Editor, your domain may be using external nameservers rather than NairoHost nameservers, in which case records must be edited at the provider holding the zone. For help, contact support on WhatsApp at +254 796 358081 or via the /contact page.
