MultiPHP Manager lets you run different PHP versions for different domains on the same account. This is useful when one site needs a newer version and another relies on older code.
Setting the PHP Version Per Domain
- In cPanel, open MultiPHP Manager under the Software section.
- You will see a list of your domains and the PHP version each one uses.
- Tick the box next to the domain you want to change.
- Pick a version from the PHP Version dropdown on the right.
- Click Apply.
The change takes effect within a minute. Test the site afterward, as a major version jump can expose code that needs updating.
Adjusting PHP Options
To change settings such as memory limit or upload size, use the related tool:
- Open MultiPHP INI Editor under the Software section.
- Select a domain in the Configure PHP INI basic settings tab.
- Adjust common values such as:
| Setting | Typical value | Purpose | |---------------------|---------------|---------------------------------| | memory_limit | 256M | Memory a script may use | | upload_max_filesize | 64M | Largest file a form can upload | | post_max_size | 64M | Largest total POST request | | max_execution_time | 120 | Seconds a script may run |
- Click Apply.
Which Version To Choose
- Modern applications run best on a current, supported PHP release.
- Avoid versions that have reached end of life, as they no longer receive security fixes.
- If a plugin or theme breaks after an upgrade, switch back one version and update the software before trying again.
