Migrating WordPress to a new host means copying the files, importing the database, and pointing your domain to the new server. A plugin handles most of the work, with a manual route as backup.
Option 1: Migrate with a Plugin
- On the old site, install a migration plugin such as All-in-One WP Migration or Duplicator.
- Export the full site to a single package file.
- Install a fresh WordPress on your NairoHost cPanel account using Softaculous.
- Install the same plugin on the new site and import the package.
This carries over files, database, themes, and plugins together.
Option 2: Migrate Manually
- Download the old
public_htmlfiles and export the database from phpMyAdmin. - Upload the files to the new cPanel account.
- Create a new database in MySQL Databases and import the SQL through phpMyAdmin.
- Update
wp-config.phpwith the new database details.
Point the Domain and Test
- Before changing DNS, preview the site using a temporary URL or your hosts file.
- When ready, update the domain's nameservers or A record to point to NairoHost.
- Run AutoSSL so the site loads over HTTPS.
- Test posts, images, forms, and logins.
If anything looks off during the transfer, reach support on WhatsApp at +254 796 358081 or through the /contact page, and keep your old host active until the new site is fully verified.
