Moving between two cPanel servers is the simplest type of migration because both ends use the same backup format. A full cPanel backup preserves files, databases, email, and settings together.
Option 1: Full Account Transfer (Recommended)
This is the cleanest method when both hosts run cPanel.
- In your old cPanel, open Backup and generate a Full Account Backup.
- Provide the backup file or your old login details to NairoHost so the account can be restored intact.
- The restore recreates files, databases, email accounts, and forwarders exactly as they were.
A full restore avoids the manual work of recreating each database user and email account by hand.
Option 2: Manual Transfer
If a full restore is not possible, move each part separately:
- Download your files from the File Manager or over FTP.
- Export each MySQL database using phpMyAdmin.
- Upload files to the new public_html and import the databases.
- Recreate database users and grant them privileges.
- Update the database connection details in your site config.
Update Configuration After Transfer
Check that connection settings match the new server:
| Setting | Where to update | |---------|-----------------| | Database host | Usually localhost on cPanel | | Database name | New cPanel prefixes the username | | Database user | Recreated with new prefix |
Final Checks
- Confirm file and folder permissions are correct (typically 644 for files, 755 for folders).
- Test the site through a preview URL before changing DNS.
- Point the domain to ns1.nairohost.site and ns2.nairohost.site once verified.
cPanel-to-cPanel transfers are fully supported, so the free migration team can usually complete the whole process from a backup file or your old credentials.
