Wix and Squarespace are closed platforms, so there is no file or database export that you can simply upload to cPanel. Migrating means rebuilding the site on an open platform while preserving your content and domain.
Understand the Limitation
These builders do not give you access to the underlying code, so you cannot copy the live site directly. Instead, you move the content into a self-hosted system such as WordPress on cPanel.
Save Your Content
- Copy all page text and save it in documents.
- Download every image at full resolution from your media library.
- Note your site structure, menus, and page URLs.
- Export blog posts where the platform allows it; Squarespace can export much of a blog to a WordPress-compatible file.
Rebuild on cPanel
- Install WordPress or your chosen platform from the cPanel installer.
- Choose a theme that matches your old design.
- Recreate each page using your saved text and images.
- Rebuild menus and internal links to mirror the old structure.
Preserve SEO
| Task | Why it matters | |------|----------------| | Match old URLs | Avoids broken links and lost rankings | | Add redirects | Sends old links to new pages | | Keep page titles | Preserves search visibility |
Where a URL must change, set up a 301 redirect so visitors and search engines land on the new page.
Switch the Domain
- Point your domain to ns1.nairohost.site and ns2.nairohost.site.
- If the domain was registered through the builder, transfer it out or update its nameservers.
- Test the rebuilt site before going live.
Because this is a rebuild rather than a copy, plan extra time. The migration team can help with the WordPress setup and DNS once your content is ready.
