Outgrowing Blogger is a good problem to have. Moving to self-hosted WordPress on NairoHost gives you full control, your own domain, and unlimited customisation. Here is how to migrate without losing content.

Step 1: Export From Blogger

  1. In Blogger, go to Settings → Manage Blog → Back up content
  2. Download the XML file containing all your posts and comments

Step 2: Set Up WordPress

  1. Register or connect your domain on NairoHost
  2. Install WordPress via Softaculous in cPanel
  3. Log in to /wp-admin

Step 3: Import Your Content

  1. Go to Tools → Import
  2. Under Blogger, click Install Now, then Run Importer
  3. Upload your Blogger XML file
  4. Assign the posts to an author

Your posts, images, and comments are imported.

Step 4: Preserve Your SEO

This is the most important part for keeping your Google traffic:

  • Install an SEO plugin like Yoast or Rank Math
  • Set up 301 redirects from the old Blogger URLs to the new ones, since Blogger and WordPress use different URL structures
  • Keep your post titles and content intact

Step 5: Point Your Domain

If you used a .blogspot.com address, register a proper domain and point it to NairoHost. If you already had a custom domain on Blogger, update its nameservers to NairoHost.

Tip: Keep the Blogger blog live until your WordPress site is fully working and indexed, then remove it.
