How to Upgrade or Downgrade Your Hosting Plan

A step-by-step guide to changing your NairoHost plan when you outgrow your current resources or need to scale back down.

Changing your hosting plan is straightforward and usually takes effect within minutes. You can move to a larger plan when your traffic grows, or downgrade if you are paying for resources you do not use.

When to Upgrade

Consider upgrading if you notice any of the following:

  • Disk space or inode usage is consistently near 90 percent.
  • Your site shows "Resource Limit Reached" or 508 errors during busy periods.
  • You need more email accounts, addon domains, or databases than your plan allows.
  • CPU or entry-process limits are being hit during peak Kenyan business hours.

How to Change Your Plan

  1. Log in to your client area at my.nairohost.site.
  2. Open Services and select the hosting package you want to change.
  3. Click Upgrade/Downgrade to see the available plans.
  4. Choose the new plan and review the prorated cost.
  5. Complete payment with M-Pesa, Visa/Mastercard, or bank transfer.

The change is applied automatically once payment is confirmed. Your files, databases, and email accounts are kept intact.

What Happens to Your Data

Upgrades never remove data. Downgrades only cause problems if your current usage exceeds the limits of the smaller plan. Before downgrading, check that your disk space, inode count, and number of domains fit within the new plan. If you are unsure, contact support on WhatsApp at +254 796 358081 before making the change.

After the Change

No DNS or nameserver changes are required, so your site stays online throughout. New resource limits appear in cPanel immediately. If a billing question arises, raise a ticket from the /contact page and our team will resolve it.
