How to Create an Email Mailing List

Use the cPanel Mailing Lists tool to send one message to many subscribers at once for newsletters or group announcements.

A mailing list lets you send a single message to many subscribers using one address. cPanel includes Mailman for managing lists, which suits internal groups and small newsletters.

Create a Mailing List

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Mailing Lists under the Email section.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter a list name and select your domain.
  4. Set an administrator password for managing the list.
  5. Choose whether the list is public or private.
  6. Click Create to finish.

Manage Subscribers

  1. In the Mailing Lists area, click Manage next to your list.
  2. Use the admin interface to add or remove subscribers, set moderation, and edit welcome messages.
  3. Configure whether members can post or only administrators.

Sending and Limits

  • Members send to listname@yourdomain.com to reach everyone (if posting is allowed).
  • Shared hosting has hourly sending limits. Large lists may hit these limits.

When to Use a Dedicated Service

For marketing newsletters to hundreds or thousands of recipients, a dedicated email service with proper deliverability tools is better than cPanel mailing lists, which are designed for smaller internal groups.
